Parasol’s Bar and Restaurant – New Orleans

Opened in 1952 in the Irish Channel neighborhood, Parasol’s Bar and Restaurant is a New Orleans tradition. The name comes from the founder, Louis Passauer. He was concerned that people would not be able to pronounce his last name so he chose Parasol’s instead. Over the years the bar and restaurant thrived and became a hub of political and social activity. The specialty of the house is and was the roast beef po boy, a New Orleans staple featuring roast beef in brown gravy served with lettuce, tomato, pickle and mayonaise on fresh made french bread.

Known throughout New Orleans as well as the rest of the world, Parasol’s has become the neighborhood place for locals and tourists alike. On St. Patricks Day the bar holds a huge block party celebrating the Irish heritage so connected to the neighborhood and New Orleans as a whole. John and Thea Hogan invite you to stop by and enjoy some of the best po boys, gumbo, cheese burgers and homemade onion rings anywhere.
