With more than 20 years experience in the seafood industry, Casablanca is one of Miami and the country most renowned fish markets attracting chefs, TV media attention and area locals. Casablanca Seafood Bar & Grill serves the freshest of the sea to Miami. Reminiscent of Key West, the upscale casual restaurant is located on the beautiful, historic Miami River with a spectacular view of the illuminated Downtown Miami. You can dine in our outdoor area and watch the commercial fishing boats pull right up to our back door and unload the day’s fresh catch.

Mario Tan Jun is the Executive Chef for Casablanca Seafood Bar & Grill and Fish Market. We are located in the newly renovated Downtown Miami, where the large array of fish and seafood is endless.
Mario was born in Lima, Peru on June 17, 1967. Peru is cradle to one of the most unique cuisines in the world. Inspired by his mother, Estela, who introduced him at a very early to the flavors of classical cuisine and basic patisserie. Mario migrated to the U.S. in the Mario migrated Ruth’s Chris Steak House and The Biz Bistro in Aventura, Florida. His real passion for food flourished after he graduated from the School of Hospitality Management at Florida International University where the cooking classes made him “thirsty” for knowledge of the cooking part of the business.

He then received his formal education from Le Cordon Bleu School of Culinary Arts in Miami. Here he expanded his knowledge and learned the art of cooking from a professional standpoint.

Mario has worked under the guidance of Chef Mark Podve at Le Cirque in New York and Todd Weisz at Turnberry Isle Resort in Florida. He has been working as a Chef for 11 years, specializing mostly in Seafood dishes. Being in Miami is like being in one of the culinary capitals of the world where it is very hard to run out of ideas for specials. There are so many different nationalities, so many fish varieties, and so many palates to please, exclaims Chef Mario.

He is now hosting a cooking segment in Spanish at a local TV channel where he presents some dishes of his repertoire and he also appeared also in some local broadcasting for Channel 7 “Deco Drive” as “Great Seafood at the Miami River”
