Coupa Cafe – Beverly Hills *** Permanently Closed

Coupa Café is an urban oasis, a lively Venezuelan restaurant featuring a completely new style of international dining which combines the best of Venezuelan dishes with the philosophy of the modern slow food movement promoting the use of organic and fair trade ingredients. Coupa Cafe is the only restaurant in the world outside Venezuela where you can enjoy the nation’s shade grown, handpicked, patio sun-dried, super fair trade organic single estate Arabica coffee beans roasted in small batches, along with international sweet and savory delights.

Coupa Café is a family owned business that was conceived prior to 1990 as a result of the desire to revive the tradition of the excellent quality of Venezuelan coffee that was lost during the “oil boom years”. The Coupal family works directly with the coffee farmers in Venezuela which ensures that they will receive fair trade prices for their coffee production. They promote the philosophy of excellent quality products and friendly service. In the U.S. and in Venezuela, they support local organic farmers and sustainable agricultural practices. Coupa Café is a member of the Specialty Coffee Association of America, the California Restaurant Association and the Slow Food Organization, among others.

The desire for excellent quality and the perfect cup of coffee led to the opening of Arabica Coffee Company, the roasting company of Coupa Café, in Caracas, Venezuela in 1990. After numerous demands for Coupa Café outside of Venezuela, Coupa Café opened its doors in Palo Alto, California in 2004, followed by another location two years later in Beverly Hills. In 2008, Coupa Café also opened in the Energy and Environment Building (Y2E2) at Stanford University. In the spring of 2010, Coupa Café opened another location outside the Green and Meyer Libraries at Stanford University. Then in the spring of 2011, Coupa Café continued to offer its trademark gourmet coffee and culinary attractions with the opening of the Stanford Graduate School of Business location. Later that year, in the fall of 2011, Coupa Café opened a grab n’ go location inside the Jen-Hsun Huang Engineering Center.
