Tony Boon opened Pink Pepper in 1989 around the corner from the west end of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Thai restaurant with a rose-toned interior and gold Buddha imagery soon became a favorite of Hollywood types. Chef Malee Chantra reinvigorated the long-standing eatery with several signature dishes, including green curry fried rice, Thai herb-crusted salmon and a rib-eye main course known as “crying tiger.” There are also well-executed standbys like green papaya salad with shrimp and spicy limedressing and spicy eggplant with black bean sauce and garlic. For dessert, expect sticky rice with mango.
