The Blue Mermaid Chowder House & Bar is where the ocean’s lore and San Francisco’s wharf history come together in a deliciously vibrant fashion. Housed in the historic Haslett Warehouse along with the Argonaut Hotel on Fisherman’s Wharf, the Blue Mermaid is named after the exquisitely beautiful creature that is said to call the waters of San Francisco Bay her home. Whether our namesake is fact or fiction, one legend that is undeniable is our food, in particular our chowders.
Complementing this decadent lineup of chowders (six different types in all) are breakfast, lunch and dinner menus the entire family will enjoy. There’s even a kids’ menu geared specially to the little wayfarer’s tastes. All of our dishes are prepared in an environmentally gentle way, including following the Monterey Bay’s sustainable fisheries guidelines. Our “fresh, local and sustainable” practices are part of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants’ commitment to safeguarding the environment.
Congratulations to the Blue Mermaid Chowder House and Bar for winning the 2013 People’s Choice Award at the First Annual Wharf Fest 2013 Chowder Competition! The Blue Mermaid’s Award Winning Dungeness Crab and Corn Chowder took the top prize at this soon to be annual event. The Blue Mermaid has swept the East Coast with our Hall of Fame placement with our Dungeness Crab and Corn Chowder and has now captured the West Coast with this amazing victory!
