Lou’s Village has been a familiar name to restaurant customers in San Jose since 1946. Known for great seafood and attentive service, 8 decades of customers have relied on Lou’s for quality and consistency. The original San Carlos Street 5 acre location was the hub of activity for countless banquets, events and parties ranging from 20 to 1300. There was an era of floorshows featuring famous stars of the 40s, 50s and 60s. There was also the Sharks Cove that was the hub of fan activity for our local team. Special events were always celebrated at “The Village” in any of its many dining rooms. Diners feasted on our seafood fare in the “front”.
Lou’s was founded by Lou Santoro. Eventually his son-in-law Frank Muller became a partner. When Tim and Tom Muller, third generation owners from 1972 till present, sold the property it was done so as a real estate transaction. In the back of their minds they knew that Lou’s could work again and pursued other interests but then realized it was time to bring the brand back. After searching for the right location it was decided that Willow Glen was the spot. After all the family arrived there in 1889 and all had been residents of the area. It was a natural when the corner of Lincoln and Willow was available in the new Willow Glen Town Square.
A team was assembled and Lou’s was soon to be back. On October 22, 2012 we opened quietly without any fanfare, but the thousands of loyal customers who had been waiting descended upon Lou’s in numbers never expected and suddenly there was no question: after 7 years we were back as though we never left.
The new Lou’s Village is 1/7 the size of the former. It does have outdoor dining and can offer catering, but the banquet facilities are no more. Tom and Tim are still there to welcome you for the first or 50th time. You’ll also see a new generation of family members working. Darrell Rose is the Executive Chef bringing you your past favorites as well as his own specials.
