Sunny Spot is a place that is stretching to find a flavor that doesn’t exist yet. We are a restaurant just blocks from the sands of the Pacific finding ourselves on a road through the Caribbean islands.
You can’t really say that we are one thing or that we are authentically one island.
But what you can find out is that we are filled with fruits and spices, music and love.
I call it a cookshop. A place where we can experiment with tropical ingredients like papaya, plantain, mango, ackee, spiny lobster, passionfruit, yellow rice, oxtail, and vinegars in the city of Los Angeles.
A place where imagination takes precedent over authenticity.
Chopped and mixed.
Not exactly the West Indies, but the West Coast Indies, all with a deep bow to the cultures from which these foods came.
