Taste of Universal – Los Angeles CLOSED

600 South Spring Street houses newly opened Downtown eatery “Taste of Universal” whose menu, mission, and style offer a refreshing take on the D.T.L.A. food scene. The brainchild of celebrity barber and downtown L.A. resident, Khalil Long, the restaurant boasts a menu featuring pulled chicken, shrimp, and vegetarian bites, bowls, and salads as well as over 50 organic snow cone flavors.

Upon entering Taste of Universal, customers are immediately engaged by the custom store-length mural depicting melting planets, stars, and spaceships; while the company mascot, Kal Bane aka The Moonman, floats behind the stainless steel, l.e.d illuminated ordering station.

“Taste of Soul has a sci-fi vibe. I always wanted to be an astronaut as a kid so I’ve incorporated space into my brand, even as a hairstylist. To me, an astronaut is the best type of super hero. He is constantly curious, an over-achieving adventurer, and something of a rebel. Being a DTLA resident, I feel that describes many of my neighbors.”, says Long.

Come visit… your superpower is waiting to be activated.
