Located in downtown Los Angeles at the corner of Central Avenue and 6th Street, Yxta Cocina Mexicana (pronounced eeks’-tah) is the sister restaurant to Highland Park’s El Arco Iris. The restaurant was named after owner Jesse Gomez’s professor at Loyola Law School, Yxta Maya Murray. The modern, eclectic and comfortable interior was designed by New York-based architect Poonam Khanna.
The restaurant offers authentic Mexican food—handmade tortillas, fresh guacamole, tortas, slow-cooked carnitas, enchiladas de mole, and chile rellenos, as well as delicious updates to the classics—tostaditas de ceviche tropical, sweet shrimp taquitos, and salmon in cilantro pesto. We are proud to serve Salmon Creek natural pork and Jidori free range chicken.
Yxta’s bar pours over 50 premium silver, reposado, and añejo tequilas. Try a creative cocktail like a New Fashioned, Jamaica Margarita, or El Pepino Margarita. We also have 12 draft and bottled beers from which to choose.
With a large dining area comfortable for small and large parties alike, Yxta is a great place for a celebration with family and friends, a dinner date, or a business lunch, as well as for happy hour margaritas and appetizers.
